"Trafficking in people is modern-day slavery; human beings are bought, sold and forced into slave labor and/or sexual exploitation.
The U.S. government estimates that each year up to 800,000 people are taken from their homes and families against their will and transported across international borders, while millions more are trafficked within their own countries. Eighty percent of these victims are women and girls.
According to U.S. government sources, approximately 14,500 to 17,500 people are trafficked into this country every year.
The sale of women and girls is becoming as common as that of illegal drugs and weapons.
The U.S. government estimates that criminals are making $9.5 billion a year from this industry."
[HUMAN TRAFFICKING] it's on PEARL..every monday 10:35pm. this miniseries is all bout (obviously) Human trafficking. it made me see the uglyness of it...and i'm sure itz comparatively 'beautiful' against reality... it made me so./..angry  ..so wanna do something to help..i feel so useless! but truth is - its not that we're useless, its coz we fail to connect with reality ..livin inside our little bubble of a life......we're so selfish, that we choose what to accept....wat to filter out and only concern ourselves in stuff that'll affect US. isn't it time for realization?..be4 itz too late... Theres hope  in everything...raise awareness whereva u may be in da world.
NOW I've realized how much more i'm blessed...and fortunate. So enjoy everyday of freedom...holidays....even exams....yes i luv school ...treasure every moment wif friends, family, eating mac donalds french fries..or juz an oreo...itz all FABULOUS ..though always be aware of "reality" besides our lives...n help wheneva we can ...theres always something to do!
